Hospital Radio Ipswich keeps patients in touch with families
Hospital Radio Ipswich reminds relatives of patients that they are ready to provide a welcome link between patients and friends and family.
The station, affectionately known as HRI, is now more important than ever when keeping patients entertained and in touch with the family in these difficult times.. A small and group of presenters keep the station broadcasting live from 8pm to 10pm every evening and are keen help keep family and friends in touch. The station is on the air for the rest of every day with a new schedule. The station founded in 1971 is a registered charity operated by volunteers.
“It can be a lonely and worrying experience being in hospital”, said HRI Chairman, John Alborough. “We are keen to bridge the gap with the outside world and ask that anyone wishing to reach a patient with a music request, a dedication or simple message, let us know.
” We have the largest music library in Suffolk able cover every type of music over every generation. It is rare we do not have that special, or favourite, track to play.”
If you would like to pass on a message or a request to a loved one in Heath Road, then ring 01473 704666 at any time and leave a message. If a time is suggested between 8 and 10pm, HRI will do its best to play the request live on time.
Hospital Radio Ipswich may also be heard online via www.hri.org.uk enabling patients in hospital to request something for someone listening at home. “It works both ways and helps people keep in touch”, added John.
