Radio station expands live programming

Now in it’s 51st year of continual broadcasting, Hospital Radio Ipswich are expanding their live programming at the weekends.

Hot on the heels of the successful launch on 5th September 2021 of the oldies show “Backtracking” the station have announced that from 8th January Mark Keable will present a live Saturday show from 10am to Noon “The Saturday Selection.”

Mark, who is a director of Fizzwig Designs the publishers of Ipswich24, said, “It’s great to be back. I can’t wait to get started on my new show and the fun of choosing the music, local news, showbiz gossip and of course requests which can be made by calling 01473 704666.”

Patrick Eade, Chair of Hospital Radio Ipswich, is excited at the prospect too. “As a completely voluntary service it’s always pleasing to offer patients and listeners in general fresh programming and Mark’s new show will enhance our live output – adding to Gemma G and Mark Eley on Saturday evenings, Norman Lloyd’s “Backtracking” on Sunday morning along with Peter Green’s Sunday evening request show.

It would be fair to say that Hospital Radio Ipswich is on a roll! The timing is perfect with continuing restrictions on patient visiting, we can be the bridge between families and their loved ones – we are also online via hri.org.uk and can include patients not only at Ipswich, but also Aldeburgh, Felixstowe and Bluebird Lodge. To request a dedication for a loved one in Ipswich Hospital call 01473 704 666 and leave a voice message and we’ll pick it up as soon as we can.”

Hospital Radio Ipswich has recently seen the return of several former members of the station, Patrick Eade, Stephen Foster, Norman Lloyd and now Mark Keable.
