Art on the Prom CANCELLED
Organisers of one of Suffolk’s best-loved arts events have announced that this year’s Art on the Prom in Felixstowe has been cancelled after they were unable to raise enough money to cover essential running costs.
The festival, which was due to take place on 6th September, normally attracts up to 11,000 visitors to the town’s seafront.
In a statement on social media, organisers Nichola Adams and Iona Hodgson said a combination of lower-than-expected income from pitch sales and sponsorship, along with three unsuccessful grant applications, had made it impossible to stage the event.
They remain optimistic about the future, saying there are already potential sponsors interested in supporting next year’s festival, along with fundraising ideas that could help bring the event back for what would be its 20th anniversary.
