Review: Aladdin – New Wolsey


You know it’s Christmas when the New Wolsey Theatre opens the doors to their annual Rock’n’Roll Panto. And, with a festive puff of smoke, Aladdin opens with bang to start this year’s season.

Aladdin is down on his luck, he has no money and has fallen in love with a princess, but he has no chance of winning the girl of his dreams. In steps, evil Abanazer who offers to help Aladdin, however his quest for our young hero is to send him into the lost salt mines to retrieve a rusty old lamp…

With the help of his monkey friend Cuddles and of course a Genie to grant his wishes Aladdin is set to succeed. What can go wrong? Widow Twanky, that’s what…

The Rock’n’Roll Pantos at the New Wolsey are a firm favourite for audiences young and old, and this year’s production certainly doesn’t disappoint. Full of fantastic musical numbers, a talented cast of actor musicians bring the story to life. Full of perfect comic timing and with the backdrop of an amazing set, Aladdin is on track to be another panto hit again this year.

If it’s added festive sparkle you wish for this Christmas, Then Aladdin should definitely be on your to watch list.
