Discover your history

The Suffolk Family History Society celebrated its 50th anniversary last year. Technology has definitely transformed the way they research over those 50 years, but not every answer is online — and even when it is, the real challenge is often knowing the right question to ask.

Suffolk FHS membership starts at just £10 per year, giving you:

• Access to their online indexes

• A high quality quarterly journal

• Monthly enewsletters

• Monthly Zoom talks with a variety of subjects on family history and Suffolk interest topics

• 20% discount on their parish register indexes (downloads or CDs)

• And of course, the support of a friendly community of likeminded family historians

If you live in Suffolk or are visiting, you’re warmly invited to join one of the monthly group meetings in Ipswich, Sudbury, Haverhill, Lowestoft, or Bury St Edmunds. Full details are on our website: www.suffolkfhs.co.uk

The Suffolk Family History Society hold an annual fair at The Hold in Ipswich. This year’s event is on May 9th, with stalls from family and local history organisations. The theme is maritime heritage — perfect for anyone with ancestors connected to the sea or rivers, fishing, smuggling, boatbuilding, the coastguard, or wherry crews for example.  There is a poster explaining more about what is on offer elsewhere in this publication

You can also find us on Facebook, BlueSky, X, Threads, and Instagram.

Whether you visit the fair, drop into a group meeting, or simply want to get in touch, the Suffolk Family History Society would love to hear from you.

Visit their Fair at The Hold, Fore St, Ipswich – 10am to 4pm on Saturday 9th May or see www.suffolkfhs.co.uk
